D&D 3.5 Weapon Finesse, Feats - Enhanced
Players Handbook; SRD Link
Shadow d20 Notes: Many classes (Monk, Rogue) can get great use out of this feat, but by core rules are forced to wait until level 3 to take it. As we play many lower level games we see no reason for this punishment of specific classes that already have issues in melee. The BAB +1 prereq is removed to allow any class to take this feat at any level. |
Weapon Finesse(Fighter)
You are especially skilled at using weapons that can benefit as much from Dexterity as from Strength.
Prerequisite: Base attack bonus +1 Removed
Benefit: With a light weapon, rapier, whip, or spiked chain made for a creature of your size category, you may use your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier on attack rolls. If you carry a shield, its armor check penalty applies to your attack rolls.
Special: A fighter may select Weapon Finesse as one of his fighter bonus feats. Natural weapons are always considered light weapons.
FAQ
Q: Shouldn't other simple weapons be added to the list of weapons for Weapon Finesse feats?
A: Maybe. We are currently considering adding the spear, longspear, & staff. We are waiting for more testing of the feat as is to see if it needs any more enhancement.
Q: In the PHB Feat Table next to Weapon Finesse it has a 2 notiation. A 2 notation says "You can gain this feat multiple times. Its effects do not stack. Each time you take the feat, it applies to a new weapon, skill, school of magic, or selection of spells." Yet in the Feat Description it seems to imply that Weapon Finesse can be used with all light weapons. Which is correct?
A: As per the Official PHB Errata the Feat Description overrides the Feat Table. So Weapon Finesse does not have to be weapon specific. So if a character has this feat then any light weapon they use will use the Dex Bonus instead of the Str bonus.
