3.5 D&D Master Craftsman, Feats - New
Shadow d20
Master Craftsman(General)
Your superior crafting skills allow you to create magic armor and weapons.
Prerequisite: 5 ranks in any Craft skill.
Benefit: Ranks in your chosen skill count as your caster level for the purposes of qualifying for the Craft Arms and Armor feat. For purposes of meeting item prerequisites, you substitute your ranks in the chosen skill for your total effective caster level. You can create a magic item even if you do not have access to the spells that are prerequisites for the item. You must make a successful Craft check (DC 20 + caster level) to emulate each spell normally required to create the item.
Thus, to make a +1 longsword, you would need a Craft check result of 23 or higher. Magic items have a caster level of three times the items plus. To create a +1 Bane longsword would require a Craft check result of 26 or higher for the plus 2 caster level of 6. A separate check result of 21 or higher would also be required to emulate the casting of Summon Monster I spell. The casting of the spell requirement can be bypassed by actually having a spell caster on hand that can cast the spell.
You must make a successful check for each prerequisite for each item you make. If you fail a check, you can try again each day until the item is complete (see Creating Magic Items). If you come to the end of the crafting time and you still have not successfully emulated one of the powers, you can make one final check your last-ditch effort, even if you have already made a check that day. If that check also fails, then the creation process fails and the time and money are expended to craft the item lost.
Special: The Master Craftsman feat allows the creation of a single unique Wondrous Item called Arcane Artisan Tools. You may enchant masterwork artisan's tools to give a single specific Craft skill bonus.
Normal: Only spellcasters can qualify for the Craft Arms and Armor feat.
