Custom Sheets -> AncientOne's Custom Sheet

This custom sheet was created by AncientOne on the HL forums. I've been working on my new character sheet and I think it's far enough along to share and get feedback.

Questions comments feedback contact AncientOne through the HL forums.

Please note that these examples DO NOT do the sheet justice.  It can be configured to display in a large number of different combinations.  So you must really try out the sheet to get the full capabilities of it.

Rune_Giant_Samurai(rt_Complete)v3.0.pdf is a warrior preview of the sheet.

Karzoug the Claimer(rt_complete)v3.0.pdf is a wizard preview of the sheet.

How to install the custom sheet

  • Start Hero Lab.  At the first window click on "Find Updates".  In the list you will see Armidale's Pathfinder Sheet (vX.XX) and you can select "Download" to automatically install the custom sheet.  After that Hero Lab should notify you when a new version is available for download.
  • To use the new sheet start HL and pick Pathfinder and then go to "File->Save Custom Output...".
    • On the new window select "AncientOne's Customizable Pathfinder Sheet vX.X" and press Output.

Change/Version Log

  • v3.0 - December 11, 2011
    • You wouldn't know it from looking at the output, but this version of the sheet is a total re-write. I had to take a different approach to solve the cross-browser issues.
    • Much improved cross-browser experience. You still need a current-version browser.
    • Added experience point info (credit to Armidale for typing in all of those per-level values!)
    • Unusable skills no longer appear.
    • Added icons for class skills, trained-only skills, and 'armor-check penalty applies' skills.
    • Some of the existing features (like item-hiding and text-editing) now apply to more parts of the sheet.
    • Various minor layout tweaks.
  • v2.3 - December 2, 2011
    • Fixed the missing "Dex" label (doh!)
    • Changed the layout of page 2 to allow for much longer lists of magic items and equipment.
    • Fixed certain magic item names that were including descriptive text in the name.
    • Fixed positioning of the 'hide' button for the "background details" section.
  • v2.2 - November 30, 2011
    • The sheet now includes a portrait editor which allows you to tailor your character portrait in several ways:
      • You can use your mouse to drag your portrait (within the portrait frame) to better position it. A button is provided to restore the picture to the default position, if necessary.
      • If you have more than one image, you can choose which one is displayed as your portrait.
      • You can choose to display the portrat full-sized, or scaled to fit the height or width of the portrait frame.
    • The sheet now allows you to edit the text of many of the textual items on the sheet. This is handy if you don't like the way a specific bit of Hero Lab data is worded.
    • Background details are now included if they were entered in the Personal tab of Hero Lab.
    • The information panel now displays tips and help text in addition to its previous uses.
    • The sheet no longer depends on access to the internet for anything (such as logos or JavaScript scripts). It is fully functional off-line.
    • New features have been tested on the latest versions of IE, FireFox, Safari and Chrome. On-screen use is equivalent; when printing, IE9 still produces the best printed output.
    • Note that changes to portrait and text will be lost if you refresh your browser window or reload the page. If you want to keep the changes, I suggest that you 'print' your character sheet to PDF format from within your browser.
  • v2.1 - November 21, 2011
    • Feature: Remember control-panel options between uses.
    • Feature: Allow user to keep common feats in the Feat Summary table while still hiding the full feat text.
    • Fix: Correctly remove color from Initiative when color-coding is disabled.
  • v2.0 - November 20, 2011
    • An on-screen control panel which allows you to customize the layout of your character sheet. Current options include:
      • Choose between traditional and compact layouts for Movement, Skills and Weapons.
      • Hide common weapon/armor/shield proficiency feats.
      • Hide logos (useful when you're not publishing your character).
      • Color-code frequently used values on your sheet (similar to HeroForge feature, if you've used that).
      • Hide/Restore individual items (traits, special abilities, feats, etc.).
      • When you enable this feature, a little red circle will appear next to some items.
      • Click the circle to hide that item.
      • When viewing a portfolio of characters, you can jump directly to an individual character.
    • An on-screen information panel which allows you to view information which is not printed (for example, skill descriptions, equipment descriptions and movement-type descriptions).
    • Pathfinder society character number.Hero Lab legal text and logo. Pathfinder RPG logo.
  • v1.1 - November 13, 2011
    • Traits, Feats, Special Abilities and Magic Items are now hyper-linked from the summary to the detailed text (obviously, this does not apply to printed character sheets).
    • The formula for a concentration check has been added to the Spells Summary page.
    • The DC formula for casting defensively has also been added to the Spells Summary page.
    • Include item powers for custom magic items.
    • Cleric domain spells now included in spell list.
    • Include spell lists for characters built with Archetypes.
  • v1.0 - October 4, 2011
    • Support for the character picture.
    • Summary of spells known/memorized/prepared.
    • Support for hero points.
    • Identification of the favored class.
    • Updated weight, money and encumbrance info.
    • Now tested on IE9, Chrome and Safari (note that, on Windows, both Chrome and Safari have more limited printing capabilities...).
  • Beta - October 2, 2011
    • Now packaged as an .hl file (which is wrapped in a .ZIP file to satisfy the upload requirements of this board).
    • Updated to work on Google Chrome (and likely other browsers in addition to the original IE 9, but I haven't personally tested others).  NOTE:  Chrome does not support printing background colors, so the sheet will not print from Chrome exactly as it appears on the screen.
    • Various readability improvements (fonts, font sizes, formatting of feat text, etc.)
    • Inclusion of combat-maneuver details.
    • Inclusion of money.
    • Moved to a folder called "rt_complete" instead of over writing Sebacore's sheet. (ShadowChemosh)
  • Beta - September 30, 2011
    • It's BETA... meaning that I'm still improving it. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
    • It is intended to be "complete"... meaning that it contains detailed text on traits, feats, special abilities and spells. In other words, the resulting sheet may be larger than some players want or need if you print all pages.
    • It has only been tested on IE 9. It will almost certainly not work on older browser versions.
    • It is designed for 8.5x11 pages with 0.5-inch magins on all sides. Be sure to set those margins in your browsers 'page setup' dialog.
    • You may also need to enable the 'print background colors and images' setting in your page setup dialog.
