General

Is necromancy always evil? Can I play a white necromancer?

A: Necromancy is always evil as it draws on the negative plane of existence and you will notice that all spells that deal in undead are marked as Evil. Using evil spells in our games will turn your alignment to evil. You simply are not allowed to play a good necromancer in our games.

 

Can we use the Official FAQ that allows Spell-Like abilities to meet the Pre-req's of PrC's?

A: Simply put no.  We consider this a cheesy rule and DO NOT allow it in our games.  This is the same as many of the employees of Paizo who don't allow this rule either.

 

Classes

Can a barbarian with the Lesser Beast Totem (APG) take the Eldritch Claws feat?

A: For our games yes.  Though the feat will only function while you actually have the claws out.

 

Does a rogues Trapfinding ability bonus to Disable Device apply to all checks or just when disabling a trap?

A: The bonus ONLY applies when disabling a trap. If you are using Hero Lab you can add a Disable Device(Traps) sub-skill so that it is easier to track on your character sheet.

 

Does the summoner's Eidolon gets its own set of Action Points?

A: The Eidolon shares its total with the summoner it does NOT get its own action points.

 

Is the summoner currently allowed in your games?

A: No.  We currently have found the class too broken to allow in our games. Until such a time when it has been re-balanced we are NOT allowing it in our games.

 

Can a Magus two-hand a weapon when using the Spellstrike class ability?

A: No.  As has been stated by the designers the intent of the class is to be a one hand spell one hand weapon class.  Taking it to allow two-hands is outside the bounds of this class and will NOT be allowed in our games.

 

Can a Magus use the cantrip Arcane Mark to get off a Spellstrike?

A: No. Why its not against the RAW rules we currently consider it to be stretching the intent of the class too far to allow for such an easy unlimited method of getting two attacks.  If you want to use unlimited cantrips then consider taking the Close Range magus arcana.

 

Combat

How does tripping work when using a Non-trip weapon (ie a longsword)?

A: You can attempt a trip with any weapon and gain its Bonus on your CMB roll.  The benefit of using a trip weapon is that if fail the trip maneuver by 10 or more you can drop your weapon instead of tripping yourself.  If you use a non-trip weapon then if you fail by 10 or more you instead trip yourself.

 

Does rolling a 1 on the trip combat maneuver check automatically count as failing by 10 or more?

A: No.  Official SKR answer.

 

Equipment

How do Brass Knuckles for a Monk work in your games?

Update 5/15/2013: After play testing the monk we are reversing this ruling for now.  When using Brass Knuckles they will do the same damage as your unarmed strikes. This allows a monk to more easily purchase special materials and elemental magic for their weapons.

A: The most current and correct text for the Brass Knuckles makes them Simple weapons and DOES NOT cause them to do their unarmed damage with the weapons.  So for now we will be playing it RAW (Rules as Written).  The full correct text is as follows:

Brass Knuckles: These weapons are designed to fit comfortably around the knuckles, narrowing the contact area and therefore magnifying the amount of force delivered by a punch. They allow you to deal lethal damage. You may hold, but not wield, a weapon or other object in a hand wearing brass knuckles. You may cast a spell with a somatic component while wearing brass knuckles if you make a concentration check (DC 10 + the level of the spell you’re casting). Monks are proficient with brass knuckles.

 

Feats

Why is the Leadership feat not allowed in your games?

A: Our games are about individual heroes not about cowardly hiding behind others. 99% of the time this feat is taken so a player does not have to work with his fellow players or he wants to be a party into himself. As such the core feat Leadership is NOT allowed to be taken in our games.

 

How does the feat Boar Style work in you games with the bleed damage?

A: This feat is confusing about the bleed damage.  I am 99% sure that the first feat does NOT do bleed damage but instead does "rend" damage.  It fits the wording and the power level of the feat much better.  We will be playing that bleed damage is actually rend damage instead. 

 

Magic Items

Do the Ion Stones that provide a boost to Int give bonus skill points?

A: The only magic item that gives any bonus skill points in our game is the Headband of Vast Intelligence. All other magic items that provide a Intelligence increase will NOT be providing any skill point increase in our games.

 

Races

I assume the Shadow Minotaur gets Darkvision but is it 60ft or greater?

A: The shadow minotaur gains NO Darkvision or Low-light Vision of any kind.

 

With the changelings now using Alter Self does this also mean I can gain Swim or darkvision as it says in the spell?

A: Simply put yes.  These again seem to fit the theme of a changeling really well and we are very happy so far with this change.

 

Skills

Lots of confusion with using Acrobatics to tumble through an enemy square.  If I fail to tumble through a occupied square what happens?

A: We are playing the same as 3.5 D&D.  So if you fail your Acrobatics roll you provoke an AoO and you do NOT get through the occupied square.  You stop just before the square you tried to tumble through. If that square is also occupied then you fall down prone.

A: (Official FAQ) - You lose the move action and provoke an AOO. (Note: This means you can attempt this up to two times in the same round, once as a move action and once as a standard action.)

 

Spells

Corrosive Touch from UM is a Conjuration spell that is affected by Spell Resistance.  Is this correct?

A: We are currently playing that this is a mistake as otherwise the 1d4 damage is a really big nerf.
